King Ranch cultivates about 12,500 acres of sugar cane in South Florida, and is the largest member of the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida.Photo of sugar cane fields
Its sugarcane is ground and processed into raw sugar in Belle Glade, Florida. The cooperative ships the raw sugar to refineries owned by Refined Sugars, Inc., of which the cooperative and King Ranch own a portion. Refined Sugars, in turn, markets this product under the Domino brand. After processing, King Ranch's cane yields about 120,000 pounds of raw sugar, and about 3.5 million gallons of molasses. Through its participation in the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida, King Ranch stays highly attuned to the changes in the sugar market.
